Good of example of how social media brings people together |
In today's social world it has become more popular to create, and join different tribes. Possibly religious, ethnic, or political. According to Seth as humans we have the need for connectivity, we are all searching for some type of connection with other people. Tribes connect people through sharing the same ideas, and the need to create a movement and put in practice their ideas. Even though some critics suggest that social media has separated people, others believe that it has brought people together. Social media is a good source of connectivity with different people, not only people that know but also an opportunity to connect with people that share our same ideas.

My type of tribe, I identify with this movement. |
Seth mentions at the the end of his speech that there are three important questions to ask ourselves when we contradict what the rest of the world is telling us. First question is who are we upsetting by stepping out of the norms and follow our idea? My answer to this is that we upset anybody that follows the norms of society and anybody that disagrees with our own ideas. The second question is who are we connecting? By spreading our ideas, and creating a movement we are connecting people that share our same ideas. Those people that at one point believed they were the only ones stepping out of the norms, and they find empowerment in being part of a movement. The third question is who are we leading? We are leading people that unify as a group sharing the same ideas or beliefs.
Years ago society was willing to sit blindfolded, and live off of what other people were feeding them. In today's society people are no longer satisfied with such information. People are reaching out to other people with their same ideas or beliefs. It doesn't matter how big or small a tribe is a difference can be made, as long their is a goal and a clear vision of the reason of such unification.
